iCloud Full? Here’s What You Can Actually Do About It
If you’ve ever picked up your iPhone and seen the dreaded message:
“iCloud Storage is Full”—you’re not alone.
At Tori’s Tech Support, this is one of the most common issues I help clients with, especially those who feel like they aren’t even using iCloud much.
Let’s break it down in simple terms so you can get your phone back to normal—without having to buy more storage (unless you really want to).
🧠 First: What Even Is iCloud?
iCloud is Apple’s online storage space. It’s where your iPhone backs up your photos, messages, app data, and more—automatically. You get 5GB for free, which sounds okay… until you realise that a couple of videos and photos can eat that up fast.
🔍 Step 1: Check What’s Using Up Your iCloud
Go to:
Settings > [your name at the top] > iCloud > Manage Storage
You’ll probably see:
Photos (especially if you take lots!)
Device backups (old iPhones, iPads)
Messages (those videos and photos you send on iMessage add up fast)
🧹 Step 2: Clean It Out (Safely)
Photos: If you already back them up to Google Photos, OneDrive, or a computer/hard drive, you can remove them from iCloud. But be careful—don’t delete things without knowing where they’re backed up first.
Old Backups: If you had an old phone or iPad that you don’t use anymore, delete its backup.
Messages: Clear out old chats and media-heavy conversations. You can also turn off “Messages in iCloud” if you’d rather store messages only on your device.
💡 Step 3: What If You Still Need More Space?
You’ve got two main options:
Pay for more storage – Apple’s plans start at $1.49/month for 50GB.
Use another backup service – I can help you move your photos and files to free options like Google Drive or OneDrive to avoid another subscription.
💬 Still Confused or Nervous About Touching iCloud?
Don’t worry—I get it. It’s easy to lose data if you’re not sure what you’re doing. That’s why I offer in-home tech support to sort this out for you, safely and calmly.
